While this protection does not prevent the pump itself from failing, it significantly reduces potential repair costs by capturing metal particles before they reach the most sensitive components of the system.
This device is not a filter, so it requires no maintenance. Even if the pump fails, the protection unit does not need to be replaced — simply clean it, and it is ready to be used again with your new pump.
The operating principle is simple yet highly effective:
contaminated fuel (containing metal shavings) is redirected back to the fuel tank, from where it later flows through the original fuel filter, preventing debris from entering the fuel rail and injectors.
