M47 Glow Plug Control Module Restoration
(18d / 20d – 85 kW, 90 kW, 110 kW, 120 kW)
In M47 engines, a common cold-start issue is the failure of the glow plug control module.
Factory-installed modules (OE codes 12217786821, 12217801200, 7786821, 7801200, GSE101) may, over time, lose the ability to power one or several glow plugs or stop activating the glow plug system entirely.
The restoration and structural improvement of the module eliminates the original design weaknesses, restores proper glow plug operation, and significantly extends system lifespan.
The refurbished module operates reliably in both pre-heating and after-heating modes.
DTC fault codes commonly indicating module failure
4212 – Glow plug, cylinder 1
4222 – Glow plug, cylinder 2
4232 – Glow plug, cylinder 3
4242 – Glow plug, cylinder 4
4203 – Glow plug control unit: no communication
Recommendation
When replacing the module, it is recommended to replace the power supply cable for the glow plug control unit as well.
Even if no visible damage is present, poor contact may cause overheating and result in module failure.
